![]() ![]() Unfortunately this dream is just that- a dream. ![]() One of the most popular reasons for "the happy ending" is because it is everyone's dream for a perfect life with a happy outcome, where people are successful physically, mentally, emotionally, and economically. Stories with ambiguous or unhappy endings leave the reader with many options as to the way in which the story could continue, and often leaves spectators to wonder "what's next" for the main protagonist, if he or she has not been killed by the end of the storyline. A story with a happy ending leaves the audience with a feeling of closure that comes with knowing the main character has received an outcome of joy and accomplishment. Although everyone may have their own individual reasoning behind their decision, it is likely that many have become accustomed to a particular type of ending in both literature and film. It is not surprising that, when asked, most people will say that they would prefer a happy ending in a novel over an unhappy one. ![]()
